Somebody help me out here.
So, Yahoo and AOL are planning to charge (presumably business) email senders a fee in order to guarantee that emails from those senders will not pass through junk mail filters. In other words, they’re guaranteeing delivery of those emails.
What the hell does this do for me, the consumer? Spam is unsolicited email. If I didn’t ask for it, it’s spam—regardless of whether the sending company paid to send it to me or not. If I asked for it, then why should the company whose communications I solicited have to pay to deliver a legitimate and otherwise free message?
